LibraryCon 2024! In-Person

Join us for LibraryCon 2024 on March 23rd, 10AM to 2PM! This year, LibraryCon will take place at Papillion Landing. This event is free and open to the public. Below find info and links to all our LibraryCon events, speakers, workshops, trivia sessions and so much more!

10AM - 2PM - VENDOR FAIR:      ALL AGES 

Join us in the Community Gym to meet local vendors, craftspeople, and artists! Browse all the fair has to offer and maybe even take something home.

10AM - 2PM - FOOD TRUCKS:      ALL AGES 

Find three food trucks in the parking lot to the east of the Community Gym. Tables and chairs and picnic tables will be available near the food trucks as well as in the Community Gym by the garage doors.

10AM - 1:30PM - COSPLAY COMPETITION ENTRY:    ALL AGES 

Visit the Library Table to enter the Cosplay Contest. You will need to fill out a brief form and get your picture taken. Winners do not have to be present to win.

10AM - 10:50AM - FANDOM TRIVIA #1: Chrysalis Room #2     ALL AGES 

Try your luck at this unhinged trivia featuring the following fandoms: K-Pop, Barbie, Fornite, Star Wars, Marvel, Zelda, Pokemon, Friends, Naruto, and Twilight. Winners will get a prize! No registration is required.  Find the event page here.

10AM - 11:30AM - COMIC WORKSHOPS FOR 3RD-12TH GRADERS: Art Room     TEEN     KIDS 

Join us as Illustrator Dylan Jacobson guides kids and teens through a comic workshop. This workshop is for those in 3rd-12th grade. Registration is required here.

11AM - 11:50AM - HOW TO GET YOUR COSPLAY UP AND GOING PANEL: Chrysalis Room #1     ADULT    TEEN  

Ever wondered how to start creating your own cosplay? Come and ask the experts! We will have a panel of professional cosplayers, including Ghostbusters: NE Division and the 501st Legion, explaining how they got to where they are.  Find the event page here.

11AM - 11:50AM - HOW TO MAKE A GRAPHIC NOVEL: Chrysalis Room #3    ADULT 

Weston Thomson is an artist and author of the graphic novel System: Book 1: The Light Bearer. His work has ranges from paintings and illustrations, to sculptures and murals. Join Weston as he gives tips and tricks to making your own graphic novel.  Find the event page here.

11:15-11:45AM - MARIO KART TOURNAMENT: Digital Library Interactive Lab    TEEN     KIDS 

Test your Mario Kart skills in this fast paced tourney!

12PM - 12:50PM - FANDOM TRIVIA #2: Chrysalis Room #2    ALL AGES 

Try your luck at this unhinged trivia featuring the following fandoms: DC, One Piece, Star Trek, Disney, Doctor Who, Avatar the Last Airbender, Bluey, Taylor Swift, Mario, and Sailor Moon.  Find the event page here.

Join cartoonist, designer, and illustrator Max Riffner as he explores the world of webcomics and what it takes to turn a story into a long-running series.  Find the event page here.

1PM - 1:50PM - 2D ANIMATION: BRING YOUR DRAWINGS TO LIFE: Chrysalis Room #3      TEEN     KIDS 

Local children's book author and illustrator Skylar Hogan teaches the basics of creating a character and preparing art files for animation software. Learn the basics of keyframe animation to help bring your character to life!  Find the event page here.

1:15-1:45PM - MARIO KART TOURNAMENT: Digital Library Interactive Lab   TEEN     KIDS 

Test your Mario Kart skills in this fast paced tourney! 

1:45PM - 2PM - COSPLAY COMPETITION AWARDS: Community Gym Stage     ALL AGES 

Join us in the Community Gym as we announce the winners of the Cosplay Competition!

 

LC2024 Activities:

RAFFLE GIVEWAYS: Library Table    ALL AGES 

Enter the raffle drawings at the Library Table in the Landing Lobby. Prizes will be drawn at 11:55AM, 12:55PM, and 2PM and annouced over the intercom. Winners do not need to be present to win. List of ways to get raffle tickets.

CRAFTS: Digital Library Classroom    KIDS 

Self-guided crafts will be available throughout the event in the Digital Library Classroom.

LEGOS: Digital Library Interactive Lab     TEEN     KIDS 

Build to your heart's content with the Library's collecion of Legos!

BOARD GAMES: 55+ Club    ALL AGES 

Board Game Wagon will be joining us in the 55+ Club room with their vast collection of board games! They will help you get started or if you need help with a new-to-you game.

MAKERSPACE DEMOS: Digital Library Makerspace    ALL AGES 

Check out our Makerspace and ask questions about training, use and projects!

PHOTO BOOTH: Landing Lobby (right outside the Community Gym)    ALL AGES 

LIGHTSABER TRAINING: Community Gym Stage     ALL AGES 

Omaha Metro Armed Combat Academy will be doing lightsaber training on the Community Gym Stage at these times:

  • 10:15-10:45am
  • 11:15-11:45am
  • 12:15-12:45pm
